AIM Monthly Update | March 2016

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]February meant big things for AIM, from a full month of raids to new resources connecting the dots between pornography and sex trafficking to job openings in Cambodia and the US and much more.

This second edition of the AIM Monthly also features an update on AIM’s partnership with Hope Outfitters and a sneak peak at some exciting info coming up in the Quarterly this April.

We hope you enjoy it, and be sure to share the details with your friends, family and co-workers. And as always, keep AIM in your prayers.

February Updates

Hope Outfitters is “Paying” It Forward

“Every time you spend money, you’re casting a vote for the kind of world you want.” – Anna Lappe

Hope Outfitters VideoOn Feb. 1, AIM announced its 4-month partnership with Hope Outfitters and we’re already about at the halfway mark. For every item purchased from the new collection, 100% of profits go toward restoration and reintegration into countless lives in Cambodia.

In just 2-months’ time, we’re seeing a tremendous impact with $4,777 already raised to support many of AIM’s programs, one of which being our AIM Transitional Home. AIM Transitional Home offers a place where young women can transition from brothels or unsafe living situations to independence. These homes are unique because AIM is one of the few offering older girls (18+) a place of restoration. We’re honored by this partnership with Hope Outfitters and can’t wait to see what the next 2 months bring!

Version 2And if our partnership with Hope Outfitters wasn’t enough, we even designed and printed one of the t-shirts at our AIM Employment Center in Svay Pak! They’ll be available through Hope Outfitters starting this weekend. There’s a limited supply, so get them while you can! But don’t just buy a shirt, be sure to share the video (above) and spread the word. Every purchase makes a difference in the fight against sex trafficking.[/vc_column_text][wbc_button button_text=”Buy a shirt today!” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.hopeoutfitters.com||target:%20_blank|”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Back to Top[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text]

AIM School, Making a BIG Impact for Little Lives

February brought AIM School’s first field trip of the year! Our 3rd graders had a great time, and learned quite a bit, at the National Museum and Wat Phnom Park.

February also brought the news that school construction will soon be starting back up! The hot April sun (think 120 degrees!) is right around the corner, so things may be on hold just a bit longer, but please join us in praising God for the funding necessary for this next phase. Continue to pray with us for the safety of the crew and for continued funds to finish construction all the way through to completion. And as always, pray for the kids that are attending AIM School now and for the many more who will be joining us in these new classrooms. God is good and it all happens in His timing!

Rescues, Raids & Arrests: AIM Rescue Team’s Month In Review

Rescued women & girls with AHTJP Officers and social workers

2016 is off to a fruitful start for AIM Rescue Team!

January led to 3 raids, the rescue of 11 women & 9 girls and the arrest of 6 offenders.

3 minors rescued during raid on the brothelFebruary brought another 3 raids, which rescued 7 girls & 10 women and led to the arrest of 5 traffickers. One of these cases led to an important arrest of a trafficker known to be deeply involved in the purchase of children from Vietnam for the selling of their virginity. This trafficker also played a large role in sending girls to work in brothels all around the country.

Join us in praying for the results of these cases and for the restoration, healing and reintegration of all of these girls and women.

Houston, We Have News!

“A beacon of light in the fight against the traffickers is Agape International Missions, known as ‘AIM’ or ‘Agape.’ Agape sits in the heart of the broken community and fights trafficking on the front lines of the battle.” – Katherine Cabaniss

I guess, I should say, “AIM, we have news!” In early February, AIM was in the news in Houston, Texas. On a recent trip to Cambodia, Katherine was moved by the work being done by AIM in Svay Pak. She was so moved, in fact, that she wrote a piece about it. Get the full story HERE.

Your Freedom Mandate, Get Creative!

Screen Shot 2016-02-12 at 10.38.53 AMFreedom Mandate seemed to be everywhere during Human Trafficking Awareness Month but Freedom Mandate didn’t stop there! You asked for some ideas on ways to share your Freedom Mandate beyond just January, and we answered!

Check out some simple ideas below. Have some additional suggestions of your own? Email me, Emily, HERE and share your ideas. You just might be featured in an upcoming edition of the AIM Monthly!

  1. Talk about sex trafficking & what you’re doing to prevent it on social media.
  2. Use your creativity & talents to create an item or host an event; use that time and space to talk about your fight against trafficking. If you’re already doing this, help us help others and EMAIL ME information about your current project!
  3. Meet someone for coffee & invite them to bring freedom to others alongside you.
  4. Wear a shirt, bracelet or accessory that evokes conversation & makes a difference at the same time. You can support AIM through our online store HERE, through our partnership with 3Strands HERE, or through our current partnership with Hope Outfitters HERE.

Pornography & Sex Trafficking, Connecting the Dots

Toha 22 DaySome may be shocked that there’s a connection between porn and sex trafficking, while others may have been sharing this important message for months or even years. Everyone is in a different place in the education that comes with joining the fight against sex trafficking.

Regardless of where you are, the connection between porn and sex trafficking is quite enlightening. As such, AIM felt the need to bring it to light. If you’ve heard Don speak at just about any conference, you’ve probably heard him passionately talk about the connection between porn and trafficking. But don’t just take Don’s word for it, don’t just take our word for it, check out the resources and research we’ve compiled to equip you in this aspect of the fight against sex trafficking. Be equipped, be educated; bring awareness, bring change![/vc_column_text][wbc_button button_text=”Learn more” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Ffreedommandate.aimfree.org%2F22-2%2F||target:%20_blank|”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Back to Top[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text]

Traveling Around the World & Back Again

Staff & Expats 2.29.16We just love visitors in our tiny office in the US. We often see some local supporters but at the end of February, we got to visit with some of our staff from Cambodia! Krista, who has been in the States recovering from an illness, was in the area visiting Janay, a recent AIM “retiree” who returned to the Bay Area to pursue what God has next for her.

The Arival in CamboAnd then in March, several members of the US Office staff headed to Cambodia for the first almost-all-staff conference! That’s all you get about that right now; you can read about the powerful impact of the conference and other exciting updates in April’s AIM Quarterly!
