Over the course of 2 days, 5 siblings were rescued from their mother by local police in tandem with AIM SWAT.
The woman was in the process of selling 2 of her young boys on June 20th in order to feed her drug addiction when officers were able to intervene. Through further investigation, they discovered that she had also sold her 2 daughters and another son who were being used to beg on the streets around the Poipet border with Thailand. Thankfully, the 3 children were located and rescued by the next day.
All 5 siblings have since been transferred to a partner aftercare shelter, and their mother was arrested and charged with child trafficking-related offenses. She will await trial from prison, and our legal team will provide free legal counsel to the children as required.
