A total of 6 minors were rescued in June of 2020.
Earlier this year, AIM SWAT assisted local police in the arrest of an adult male who is suspected of raping a young girl. The girl had reported the incident to her parents, who then filed a police report. As the arrest was being made, police and AIM SWAT seized the perpetrators phone and found pornographic photos of other suspected minor Khmer girls. These pictures portrayed the young girls posing naked and being sexually abused. Once these photos were found, AIM SWAT and police began a long investigation and have identified 5 additional minors. During interviews with the police, we discovered they, too, had been sexually abused by the suspect on multiple occasions. The girls also reported that the suspect would record the abuse on his phone. The girls had been too scared to tell their parents what was happening at the time, but are now receiving counseling.

In total, 6 girls were rescued between the ages of 7 and 14, and are all receiving aftercare services at AIM’s Restoration Home where they can begin to heal from their trauma and be empowered to move forward.
The suspect is now in jail, having been charged with multiple counts of rape and producing child pornography. AIM’s legal team will represent the girls in all upcoming court proceedings.
Praise God for the bravery of one girl, which led to the arrest of a predator and the identification of 5 more survivors who will now receive the opportunity for healing and care!
We want to thank all of you for making these stories of justice and healing possible!
Case Update:
As of December 2020, the perpetrator was found guilty and sentenced to 8 years in prison and ordered to pay compensation to all survivors.
