AIM SWAT Arrests 3 for Trafficking Men to Malaysia

Although the AIM SWAT Team typically investigates and raids locations where sex trafficking is occurring, they are always at the ready to help with other types of human trafficking cases as well. In this latest case, several men who had been trafficked to Malaysia managed to escape and return to Cambodia with help from the Cambodian Embassy.

The men shared that when they arrived in Malaysia, expecting to have good jobs waiting for them, they had their passports confiscated and were forced to work in a factory for 12 hours each day under terrible conditions and with little pay. Once back in Cambodia, they filed a complaint with police. That’s when AIM SWAT was asked by Phnom Penh Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Police (AHTJPP) to assist with the investigation.

Following several days in Kampong Thom province, the suspects were located. On Sunday, November 26th, AHTJPP, supported by AIM SWAT officers, arrested 1 man and 2 women suspected of trafficking the men to the factory in Malaysia. During interviews, the suspects all made partial admissions and have subsequently been charged with human trafficking related offenses and remanded to prison to await trial.
