In 2014, we were given permission to work with the Cambodian Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Police (AHTJPP) to rescue trafficked girls and women and arrest traffickers. God provided the funding, the staff, and the legal permission, and by March 2018 – just 4 years later – AIM SWAT has been responsible for rescuing over 700 people from trafficking!
Recently, we learned that God has even greater plans in store for the AIM SWAT Team.
In the beginning of this year, we were honored to be invited to assist the Cambodian Government in cases that involve traffickers selling someone living in Cambodia to another country for exploitative purposes. This includes cases of sex trafficking and all other forms of human trafficking.
AIM SWAT’s collaboration and close relationship with the Cambodian AHTJPP opened the door for the team to help in these other areas. We have already begun working with and supporting police in other departments and areas of the country; In March, two young girls were rescued along the border with Thailand, and in April AIM SWAT assisted AHTJPP in Phnom Penh with the arrests of two high-profile Vietnamese traffickers and rescue of two Vietnamese minors.
There will be a sizable increase in the cost of operating the AIM SWAT Team across a much larger geographic area and taking on additional cases, but once again God has been faithful to provide! When AIM was asked to step into this expanded role, our faithful partners at Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.) offered to provide the financial backing we needed to make it happen.
