BREAKING: 4 Rescued & 3 Arrested En Route to Saudi Arabia

FROM THE AIM RESCUE TEAM DIRECTOR:

At 8:30pm on Sunday the 21st of August, the Municipal Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Police, supported by AIM Rescue Team, conducted an operation to rescue 4 Khmer victims in the process of being trafficked to Saudi Arabia in Phnom Penh.

During the operation, 2 Pakistani men were arrested in Phnom Penh and, a short time later, an adult female Khmer broker was arrested in Kampong Thom province. All were arrested on suspicion of attempting to traffic 3 Khmer women to Saudi Arabia in order to force them into prostitution and 1 Khmer man into the labor industry. During interviews, all victims stated they had been promised good paying jobs in Saudi Arabia. The Khmer man thought he would be employed as a driver or laborer and the women thought they would be employed as domestic workers. The 3 arrested individuals have all made admissions and have been charged with trafficking related offenses and remanded to jail to await trial. The AIM Legal Team will represent the victims throughout the court process. All 4 individuals have been offered employment at AIM Employment Center.
