TODAY THE WORLD COMES TOGETHER FOR FREEDOM

July 30th 2025, is World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, an internationally recognized day that is dedicated to raising awareness about human trafficking and protecting the rights of survivors. This day is crucial for highlighting the severe impacts of human trafficking, a crime that exploits women, children, and men for numerous purposes, including forced labor and sex.

You’ve probably seen national and international days, weeks, and months dedicated to causes or celebrations, such as National Strawberry Day or International Women’s Day. Well today is no different, but it holds a very powerful meaning. World Day Against Trafficking in Persons was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2013. The purpose of this day is to “raise awareness of the situation of victims of human trafficking and for the promotion and protection of their rights.” The importance of this day cannot be overstated; it serves as a global call to action, urging governments, civil society organizations, and individuals to amplify efforts in combating human trafficking.*

What day is Human Trafficking Awareness Day? It’s important to note that while Human Trafficking Awareness Day in the United States is observed on January 11th, today’s World Day Against Trafficking in Persons on July 30th focuses on global awareness and action, providing a broader platform for international cooperation and advocacy.

This Year’s Theme: The Role of Criminal Justice + Survivor-Centred Protection.

The 2025 World Day Against Trafficking puts a spotlight on criminal justice systems and survivor-centered responses—two areas where AIM has delivered consistent, measurable impact. Unlike fragmented approaches, AIM’s model is built for long-term transformation. Our rescue operations are driven by actionable intelligence from within the communities we serve. Survivors are met at the point of rescue by trained advocates who understand trauma and can intervene before re-exploitation occurs. Our legal teams work case by case to secure convictions and close trafficking venues permanently. This isn’t charity work. It’s systematic disruption, grounded in trust, intentionality, and experience. Our partners aren’t just supporting rescues, they’re helping rebuild justice from the ground up.

Ending cycles of exploitation by combining law-enforcement intelligence, survivor-focused care, and legal action to dismantle trafficking networks for good.

We equip local law enforcement systems to combat exploitation at the source. AIM’s SWAT Team leads rescue operations, drawing from intelligence gathered through our programs and community presence. Side by side with local officers, we train, build airtight cases, and coordinate raids that put traffickers behind bars and bring survivors into freedom.

+ Over 2,000 survivors assisted

Our dedicated social workers stand as guardians during rescue operations, protecting survivors’ dignity and well-being from rescue through healing, creating a layer of protection between survivors and those who would exploit them.

When survivors see police, they get scared. But then a gentle voice breaks through: “You’re safe now. I know because I’ve been where you are.” These are our survivor-advocates, many of whom are former victims who now return to pull others from darkness, walking side by side and whispering the words they once desperately needed to hear. Without this bridge of understanding, survivors often run back to their exploiters. But through our survivor focused care, we prevent re-trafficking, and enable successful prosecutions as survivors find the courage to testify against their abusers.

AIM’s legal team fights in the courtroom so survivors never stand alone. They shape field intelligence into compelling prosecutions, walk beside each survivor through every legal step, and press for verdicts that close trafficking venues for good. Each conviction restores dignity, each sealed doorway signals hope, and every ruling echoes the courage of those who help make justice possible.

+ Over 180 raids on locations that have been permanently closed.

+ Over 600 traffickers arrested
