On the evening of March 22nd, AIM SWAT supported Siem Reap police officers in the arrest of a woman who has been suspected of causing severe burn injuries to 10-year-old boy.
The victim allegedly stole $2.50 earlier that day from the woman who responded by pouring petrol over the boy and setting him on fire.
In an interview following her arrest, the suspect admitted to pouring the petrol on the boy. However, she claimed that she never meant to set him on fire and actually drove the boy to the hospital for treatment after helping to put the fire out. She has since been charged with causing grievous bodily harm and will await her trial from prison.
The boy is receiving medical treatment at the local hospital where our Siem Reap Team is in continual contact with him and his family to organize aftercare for when he’s discharged. The AIM Legal Team will represent the boy in all upcoming court proceedings.
