BREAKING: 7 rescued & 1 arrested in massage parlor raid

RAID DETAILS FROM AIM SWAT TEAM DIRECTOR: 

On the evening of Monday the 20th of December, officers of the Phnom Penh Department of Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Police Department (AHTJP), together with the AIM SWAT team, conducted a raid of a brothel fronting as a massage parlor in central Phnom Penh.

The raid followed a week-long surveillance operation. Surveillance began after receiving information that both Vietnamese and Khmer girls were being sold for sex from the brothel. During the raid, 3 minors and 4 adult women were rescued and the trafficker arrested.

Following the search and seizure of evidence, all victims were interviewed, during which time they admitted to being sold for the profit of the trafficker. The trafficker made admissions to police that he had been engaged in child sex trafficking.

All victims were transferred to AIM’s aftercare facilities at AIM Restoration Home and AIM Transitional Home. The trafficker was charged with child sex trafficking related offenses and remanded to prison to await trial.
