After a two week long covert surveillance operation on a brothel fronting as a massage parlor, Cambodian law enforcement and our SWAT team conducted a raid that rescued two minors and three adults. During the raid, two suspected traffickers were arrested and have been charged with child sex trafficking related offenses and remanded to prison to await trial.
The brothel was officially closed by the local authorities following the search for and seizure of evidence within the premise. During interviews, the victims all admitted to being sold for sex to the profit of the suspects. Both minors are receiving aftercare services with a partner organization and the three adults have all been transferred to AIM for restoration and aftercare services in Svay Pak. The SWAT legal team will represent the victims during the forthcoming court process.
This raid occurred on Wednesday, September 19th with officers of the Phnom Penh Department of Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Police Department (AHTJP) and AIM SWAT.
