Our SWAT team and Cambodian law enforcement simultaneously raided two brothels fronting as massage parlors in Siem Reap. During the raids, four minors were rescued and three suspected traffickers were arrested.
The raids followed a covert investigation acting upon information that young girls were being sold for sex at both locations.
Both brothels were officially closed by the local authorities following the search and seizure of evidence at the premises. During interviews, the minors admitted to being sold for sex to the profit of the suspects who were subsequently charged with child sex trafficking related offenses and remanded to prison to await trial.
All four victims are currently receiving aftercare services at our Restoration Center and will receive free legal counsel from SWAT lawyers throughout the forthcoming court process.
These raids occurred on the evening of Monday, September, 17th with officers of the Siem Reap Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Police Department and AIM SWAT officers.
