Two minor girls were rescued during a raid of a brothel in south Phnom Penh on April 25th by AIM SWAT and Phnom Penh Police. A 2-month investigation confirmed the brothel, fronting as a massage parlor, was selling young girls for sex at the premise.
One trafficker was arrested at the scene and the brothel was officially closed after the search for and seizure of evidence.
In interviews following the raids, the victims shared they had been sold for sex to the profit of the suspect who was then charged with child sex trafficking-related offenses and detained for court.
Both girls have been transferred to partner aftercare shelters and will be represented by our legal team throughout the forthcoming court process.
