7 Minors Rescued; 1 Trafficker Arrested in Begging Operation!

7 Children are safe and free today!

On September 1st, AIM SWAT successfully rescued 7 children, ages 4 to 13, with the help of the Phnom Penh Police! The trafficker has been arrested, facing child trafficking charges. The arrest was made after a covert surveillance operation, confirming information about the suspect forcing these children to beg for money for his own profit. Our legal team will represent all 7 children during the future court proceedings.

The children confirmed with police that they were being forced to beg on the busy streets of Phnom Penh. They have been transferred to a partner aftercare shelter, where they will be safe and cared for. Unfortunately, this sort of labor trafficking is not unusual in Phnom Penh and throughout Cambodia which is why AIM will continue to work to end ALL types of trafficking throughout Cambodia!
