Two Arrested, Survivor Reunites with Her Family

On January 24, the T’bong Khmom Police together with the AIM SWAT team arrested two women under suspicion of selling a 21-year-old woman into an abusive marriage in China. The victim was verbally, psychologically, and physically harmed by her “husband” and his family.

The young woman escaped from her captors and was repatriated to Cambodia with the help of the AIM China team. Once home, the victim filed a report with the Cambodian Police who uncovered the whereabouts of the suspects and arrested them on January 24. The suspects await their trial from prison under the charges of human trafficking crimes.

The survivor has been reunited with her family and is receiving aftercare and employment help from the AIM team. She is also being represented by AIM’s legal team through the trial.
