AIM Quarterly Letter July 2012

Dear AIM friends,

“Turn this song up!” I exclaimed loudly across the office pointing to the radio. The AIM office staff had just finished praying together excitedly because of all God is doing in our ministry and praying for comfort as I had just found out my uncle had passed away. With a sweetness in the air as we said our last, “Amen,” the song “Come Thou Fount” came on the Christian radio station.

“Here I raise mine Ebenezer hither by thine help I’m come.” This old English phrase, more simply stated means, “I remember I am here because of You.”

In the busyness of day-to-day living, in pain and hardship, we often forget how far we’ve come. We can also lose sight of the hope set before us. But God is victorious, worthy of honor and praise.

Here are some things we should hold up as an Ebenezer—a rock of remembrance—to never forget what God has done!

The Lord’s GymSince its opening in 2007, the Lord’s Gym is reaching pimps, traffickers, and drug dealers.  Last quarter, 81 young men were reached.  In addition, we have seen traffickers begin attending church as well as confess that their actions in trafficking are wrong, stating they will never do it again.

Agape Restoration Center (ARC) – Since its opening, ARC has cared for 176 girls with 122 being successfully reintegrated.  Of the 176 girls that we have served, 153 have accepted Christ, and 118 have been baptized.

Agape Training Center (ATC) – Since the launch of ATC in March 2012, we have grown from seventeen young ladies to forty-one.  These are forty-one survivors of sex trafficking now working full-time and no longer at risk.

Rahab’s House (Svay Pak)

Rahab’s House Kids Club – Rahab’s House Kids Club serves the local Svay Pak village children.  Each day they are given a Khmer literacy and English lesson, a life skills lesson, and a Bible story.  They participate in worship music, an arts and crafts project, and are given a snack before they leave.  We reach up to 400 kids on a daily basis.  

The Church – The Church continues to share the hope of Jesus Christ with villagers at weekly Sunday services through worship and the preaching of God’s Word, providing humanitarian aid to the villagers, and sponsoring a free medical clinic.  Last quarter, aid was given to villagers in the form of flood relief, rice was provided for 287 families, and healthcare services including medication were provided for 849 people through the free medical clinic held twice a week.  Adult church attendance remained steady at approximately 500 people.

Rahab’s House School – Rahab’s House School offers Khmer curriculum of literacy, math, life skills, and ESL with Bible lessons and biblical principles interwoven throughout the lessons.  We have expanded our class offerings and are now reaching up to 500 children weekly.  Five evening community English classes were offered and attended by forty-eight students.  In addition, we have 23 teachers.

Rahab’s House (Siem Reap) – Since its opening in November 2011, we have provided an escape from the sex industry for ten young ladies.

Church PlantingThrough the efforts of Moses and Samantha Seth, AIM has established a network of over 1000 village churches. Through this network, AIM is equipping villagers to recognize, report and prevent child sex trafficking.

There’s still more that I didn’t include!  None the less, God is amazing and we give Him all the glory.
