FROM AIM SWAT TEAM DIRECTOR:
At 8pm on Monday the 5th of December, the Phnom Penh Department of Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Police (AHTJP) together with the AIM SWAT Team executed a raid on a brothel fronting as a massage parlor on the Riverfront in Phnom Penh.
During the raid, 8 victims were rescued, including 3 minors, and the brothel manager was arrested on suspicion of child sex trafficking offences. During the search, evidence was seized including ledger books detailing how many times each girl had been sold per night. During interviews, all of the victims admitted being sold for sex for the profit of the manager.
The manager admitted she was operating a brothel and has since been charged with child sex trafficking related offences and remanded to prison to await trial.
All 8 girls and women have been transferred to AIM Restoration Home (ARH) for aftercare services.
