JANUARY IS HUMAN TRAFFICKING AWARENESS MONTH.
In 2010, President Barack Obama designated January as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Now, it is often referred to as Human Trafficking Awareness Month.
The International Labor Organization estimates that there were 20.9 million people trafficked for forced labor in 2012, and 4.5 million of those were victims of forced sexual exploitation, with the Asia-Pacific Region being the most active area in the world for this horrible crime.
In Cambodia, on a daily basis, we witness firsthand that sex trafficking of adults and children is prolific, but with your help, we’re fighting this evil and making great changes in the country. Below, discover some of the ways that you can partner with AIM in 2017 to fight human trafficking.
SEX TRAFFICKING PREVENTION WORKSHOP
Did you know that AIM offers a free online Sex Trafficking Prevention Workshop? The more you know about the issue of sex trafficking, the better equipped you’ll be to make a difference. This month, we challenge you to raise your awareness and learn more about what you can do to help, even in your own community.
HELP AIM SWAT TEAM RESCUE GIRLS
AIM SWAT Team does the very real work of rescuing women and girls who are trapped in brothels, and other locations, being forced into sexual slavery. The average cost of an investigation and raid is $1,000. Learn more and give today to help us rescue even more girls in 2017.
REACH TRAFFICKERS AT THE LORD’S GYM
Human trafficking won’t be solved without addressing the men who manage the industry. At The Lord’s Gym, AIM develops relationships with men in the community – even potential traffickers – and shares the love of Christ with them. Learn more about this program and consider sponsoring a locker at The Lord’s Gym for $72/month.
