Our SWAT team and Cambodian law enforcement recently arrested a man and woman on suspicion of being involved in the trafficking and rape of a 16-year-old girl. The arrests followed an initial complaint made by the minor and her family that she had been tricked into leaving home by a local woman who had promised her a job in a nearby province. Instead, the woman took the girl to a remote part of Kratié Province where they met with a Khmer man who forced her to have sex with him.
The girl learned that the man who raped her had paid money to the woman who brought her there to have sex with her. The victim is currently receiving aftercare services at AIM Restoration Home, and both suspects have been charged with sex trafficking related offenses and remanded to prison to await trial. AIM SWAT lawyers will represent the victim throughout the court process.
This arrest happened on Friday, September 7th with officers of the Kratié Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Police Department (AHTJPP) and AIM SWAT.
